What's
new
Many of the world's great inventions have come about when two different
things have been combined.
In the Nokia 7110, the Internet meets the cellular network. Global information
meets individual choice and movement. And that creates a whole new set
of requirements for a mobile phone.
Many of the most important new features of the Nokia 7110 - large display,
microbrowser, Navi Roller, predictive text input - were developed to
make it faster and easier to access services available over the Internet
using a mobile phone.

Microbrowser for WAP Mobile Phone
The first step is getting started. When you buy the Nokia 7110, you
can have the service access numbers sent as a message to your phone,
which then automatically does all the configuration. Or you can key
in the numbers manually.
Now you're ready to go. The microbrowser works like a microbrowser on
the Internet. To find new sites, use the Yahoo service. Enter a few
keywords - for example flight departures London - to find the information
you want.
When you find a site you like, save the address in your favourites folder.
Or you can input addresses using the keypad.
Different services work in different ways. Some will send information
to your phone automatically, once you have requested the service. Others
you can select and access in much the same way as you use menus in a
PC application. The availability of services will vary depending on
the operator and the market area.
7110 Data usage
You can use Nokia 7110 as a wireless modem. The Nokia 7110 has built-in
data communication capability, and a built-in infrared (IrDA) port.
It supports GSM data transfer speed up to 14.4 kbps.
Data cable DLR-3 connects your Nokia 7110 to your PCs serial (RS-232C)
port.
Navi Roller
Roll and scroll with the Navi Roller. It's a bit like using a mouse
to select items from an application menu, or like the up and down arrows
on a mobile phone. Except that it's smarter, and that makes it faster.
To select a function or a name from memory, scroll with the Navi Roller
and click to select. Since it's smart, the Navi Roller knows what to
do in each situation when you click - select, save, send.
When they try it, most people say that the Navi Roller makes the Nokia
7110 a lot faster and easier to use.
Predictive text input
There are only 12 keys for numbers and letters on a mobile phone keypad.
So it's not really designed for writing all the different numbers and
letters you need when you write e-mail or a note in your diary.
So, to make it faster, the keypad is smarter, with Predictive Text Input.
The Nokia 7110 has a built-in dictionary. Each time you press a key
- one press per letter in the word you want to write - the Nokia 7110
continually compares the word so far with the words in the database.
It selects the most likely word for the letters you have written. If
there are several possibilities when you have finished writing the word,
you select the one you want using the Navi Roller.
You can also write special words or proper names as you do on an ordinary
mobile phone, and input new names and words into the memory.
Extra large display
The Nokia 7110 is not only for speaking, it's also for reading and writing.
So the display is BIG. It's also sharp, with 65 rows of 96 pixels, so
it can show large and small fonts, bold or regular, as well as full
graphics. Great for services, messages and icons, even better for games.
Phone book
It's good to have a lot of friends and business acquaintances, and it's
even better to have all their names and addresses in one place.
The Nokia 7110 has memory for up to 1000 names, with up to three phone
and fax numbers and one text/address field for each one. You can mark
each number and name with a different icon.
And there`s more. You can save up to 50 messages - SMS or e-mail - in
the memory, in various folders such as the inbox, outbox, or your own
defined folders.
Calendar
You can leave your watch and pocket calendar at home, but
don't forget to take your Nokia 7110 with you.
You can view the calendar in the Nokia 7110 by day, week or
month. You can see complete details of your schedule and calendar
notes for the day. The week view shows icons for the jobs
you have to do each day. You can save up to 660 notes in the
calendar.
